My landlord is being completely unreasonable. He wants to sell the house I’m renting from him and the potential buyer wants to move in right away. The problem is I still have a year and a half on my rental agreement.
I thought I’d be nice and started looking for another place to stay, but I can’t find anything of similar standard, at the same rate, in the area where I’m living.
So, while I have looked, I have not been able to find suitable accommodation. However, the landlord wants me out. He’s been phoning almost every day asking me if I have found somewhere else to stay and is becoming more impatient with each day that passes. He even accused me of deliberately trying to derail the sale of the property!
Last week he told me he was going ahead with the sale, and I have to vacate the property because the new owner would be moving in.
I’ve heard of the expression huur gaat voor koop and was wondering if I have any legal options here in terms of my lease agreement?
