Selling my share in a co-owned house

12 October 2017 by YourProperty

My ex-girlfriend and I bought a house in 2013, which is in both of our names. After a breakdown in our relationship I moved out in 2015.

I now want to purchase a new house, but I am unable to do so as the bond of the co-owned property is still in my name.

She is happy to take full ownership of the house, but she is in no hurry to do this. I’m not sure if she can afford to pay the transfer costs or even afford to apply for sole ownership.

Do I have a legal right to sell my share of the property and can I legally have the bond transferred into her name in a timely manner?

Thank you,

Property Co-owner
